Played a short (1.5hr) session today - I was planning on playing a bit longer but ended up going out Xmas shopping... didn't really end up buying anything but got a good bit of investigation done! Bristol is actually amazing for shopping - there are loads of baller shops like Hotel Chocolat and Molton Brown around Cabot Circus, as well as several big department stores like House of Fraser (which is probably the most up-market of the major department stores). Just a shame most of them aren't open past 7pm on weekdays so I'm gonna give it a go at the weekend.
That little digression aside, today's session went pretty well. Wasn't terribly exciting until the end when I got some decent HU action going vs some regs - on that note, it seems no-one wants to play me at HU any more, which is funny cause I'm not exactly a beast at HU...
Plenty of interesting hands from today though:
Villain is pretty much unknown. Pre is a bit meh but BB is a fish and everyone else seems fairly straightforward. Flop and turn are very standard - raising turn would be way over-repping my hand.
River is a nasty spot, as I only have to be good 22% (rough guess) of the time... although to be honest I think it's a pretty clear fold vs almost anyone - whether reg, fish or unknown. I guess you could argue that our range is somewhat capped after we just flat his 1/2 pot on the turn, but you just don't see people bluffing this spot, especially with a minraise. Also there just aren't enough 2pairs out there to warrant a call if he were a fish, and he may well just flat them on the river anyway.
Was pretty happy that I actually folded though cause I am usually a big station in these kinda spots, so wp me.

Villain seemed pretty competent over a small sample HU - he had decent frequencies and seemed aggro but not massively out of line.
Pre is standard, as are flop and turn somewhat. River is a bit more interesting - I feel like I have the best hand about 90%+ of the time here, as he's probably never c/c'ing a big hand or a FD on the turn. I think very often he'll show up with a 98/66/55/7x type hand here, and the river looks like the ultimate obvious scare card so I shipped it expecting to get snapped off a lot.
I was right - he did snap it off with one of about 2 hands (A4/A7) that beat me, meh. Again, I'm happy with my river play as I occasionally pussy out here.

The next few hands are all against the same reg at HU. He seemed really nitty, folding nearly 70% of BBs and only opening half his buttons (which is just waaaay too tight at HU). That said, he was 3betting and 4betting a fair bit (just not flatting a whole lot pre), so I felt I could 5b shove 55 against him:

After that I thought he was getting a bit tilted - AQ < 55 hurts a lot more than AQ < JJ despite them being practically the same :)
I felt he wouldn't really be donking many value hands 3 streets here but could be steaming from losing the flip and donking random draws and air, just trying to brute force me off the pot. So I flatted flop and turn, and snapped river. Probably folding a spade river as I think spades make up a lot of his range here...

Standard up till turn (I don't think barrelling turn here is a great idea). Again, I thought he would be steaming a bit and I have the best hand a ton, so I made a slight overbet and he snapped it off very fast :)
