Getting Crushed

It's been a really frustrating month so far - ran like god for the first 4 days then lost $600 yesterday and another $600 today. Makes for a pretty horrific looking graph:

December. Ugh.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have found it so frustrating under my old BRM system but it hurts to lose 30% of your roll in just over 24 hours. That said, I do intend to stick with my aggressive BRM and I've moved back down to 50NL for the time being. Hopefully I'll be back at 100NL within a few days. It's always tempting to keep adjusting it on the fly but the first rule of BRM is you don't fuck with your BRM.

Something I will consider adding to it is a set of stoplosses - it's good to take a break after you're stuck a few buyins, even if it's just for 15 minutes. About half way through my session today I just shut all my tables down and took a breather - it's not really a huge deal for me to have to hop back on a bunch of tables as I start most of my tables anyway. Not that it helped me run any better but I didn't go too apeshit about gay hands like this (villain was a reg):

I also think it's a good idea to move back down in stakes for a bit after losing X buyins (where X is probably around 6-8). Again, not such a big issue if you use more conservative BRM, but on a short roll it helps a lot. Might try this out for the rest of this month (in addition to the base BRM of taking shots at 30BI, moving back down at 25BI).

On the plus side I've been playing my A-game a large majority of the time this month, even during the downswing. I'm also pretty happy with my volume, which stands at 11.5 hours for the month - should be on pace for about 10k VPPs this month so I should easily be able to make SN next year if I decide to stay on Stars.
