Back to FR?

Well, after a really awful session at 6max yesterday and generally being breakeven over the last 60k hands I decided to re-evaluate my options. I looked back at my 2009 and 2010 databases and checked the "# of players" report which pretty much told me I suck at shorthanded play, lol.

My overall winrate at FR was about 7.5bb/100 compared to more like 2.5bb/100 at 6max over pretty big samples, and my SD was about 10bb/100 lower. Granted, the 6max is a bit more recent and the games have got tougher since then, but I think it's a bit of a no-brainer for me to switch back to FR at least for the immediate future. Where that leaves me on my SN chase I don't know - if I stick with 12 tables I'm getting a lot less VPPs per hour so 300k is gonna be kinda hard, then again it works out as a few extra % RB at FR anyway. I might bump the tables up to 16 or so to compensate, as it's obviously a lot easier to play more tables at FR than at 6max.

If you look at my progress box in the sidebar you'll see I'm already a bit behind pace although I kinda expected that as I have coursework and exams coming up over the next couple weeks so I'm not too worried about that, but depending on how it goes at FR I might aim for 200k VPPs instead, or possibly just 100k and put in the rest of my volume on FTP or maybe a Euro site.

Feels kinda like I've gone round in circles a bit as I was playing 100NL FR a year ago, but it makes a lot of sense for me. I think most of the people reading this blog are FR players so maybe I'll see some of you at the tables ;)
